The supreme court refused to consider the plea of Punjab BJP Leader Jagjit Singh which sought to transfer the case to CBI regarding the Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder.
A bench which included justice Ajay Rastogi & justice Abhay S. Oka said that they don’t appreciate practices where such matters receive political flavor. However, they acknowledged that the court had to work openly for all the people.
Meanwhile, the court adjourned another plea of Lawrence Bishnoi, the accused’s father which challenged the transit remand to Punjab police & asked the state to file a rely on the same.
Earlier, the Patiala House Court of Delhi had allowed the Punjab police to arrest Lawrence Bishnoi in connection to the murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala. The court additionally ordered the police to ensure that the medical exam of Bishnoi be conducted as per law prior to leaving Delhi & also before the introduction before the concerned court in Mansa, Punjab.
The Delhi court earlier had said that the applicant investigation officer & the investigating agency were directed to take all necessary actions to protect accused Lawrence Bishnoi until his introduction in the court.
According to the petition filed by Punjab police in the court, Lawrence Bishnoi is a key conspirator in the killing of Sidhu Moose Wala. Also, Punjab police further stated that on further investigation, the confession statements of the arrested Bishnoi were recorded & it clearly stated that Lawrence had tasked the co-accused to carry out the planned killing of Moose Wala.
Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by assailants in broad daylight in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29. For the record, the singer had joined the Congress party last year ahead of the Assembly actions.
This is not the first time that a case has not been transferred to the CBI. The Central Bureau of Investigation is the leading agency for all cases regarding corruption, bribery, and government & economic matters.
CBI has often been reprimanded for twisting cases in favor of the accused & arresting its own officers on the basis of FIR filed by the accused.
